There is a movement building, powered by people like you—people who are inspired by the opportunity to come together, to communicate and collaborate, and to build a collective unity and power like never before. My name is Sean Walton, Jr., and I am honored to be a candidate for President of the Columbus NAACP.
I am joining this movement with a bold and ambitious vision. My vision centers around the idea of empowerment: to empower leaders who, in turn, empower more leaders, who then empower the people. Together, we will build a culture rooted in humility and a commitment to servant leadership—one that resonates deeply within our community.​
We are all balancing busy lives with commitments to our families, faith, and careers. However, if we all lend our gifts to this vast and irresistible movement that returns all of the power to the people, we can finally, and fully, harness our collective strength. Together, we can stop merely working harder and instead work smarter, tackling the cycle of systemic issues our communities have faced for generations.
Black and Brown communities share a powerful history of resilience, and we have to recognize the need to embrace and mobilize all supporters and allies as we build political power and advance the ongoing mission of racial equity.
Under my leadership, the Columbus NAACP will be a beacon of change and a thought leader that drives action. The 21 standing committees of the NAACP will become engines for progress, channels of innovation, and spaces for dialogue and strategy. Through these committees, we will establish a robust infrastructure that supports every aspect of Black life and fosters solutions that address both policy and practical action.
Our work will reimagine the NAACP as an incubator for leadership and talent within Black and Brown communities, pushing boundaries with an innovative and progressive spirit. We will honor the wisdom of our elders, while driving forward with a revolutionary mindset that understands the fierce urgency of now—the same urgency Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. so eloquently spoke of in 1963.
This movement is not just about any one individual; it’s about the collective. It’s about amplifying our voices, deepening our impact, and working hand in hand to build a future that reflects our shared values. I invite each of you to join this journey with me and the powerful leaders on our slate who I am humbled and honored to work alongside of, as they too answer the call to serve. Let’s make Columbus a model of what’s possible when a community unites to lead, to serve, to transform, and to most importantly - love. ​​

Championing Justice, Equity and Community
Sean Walton, Jr. is a prominent attorney, educator, and advocate for civil rights and his work in personal injury and wrongful death cases helps hold bad actors accountable. His success as an Partner at Walton + Brown, LLP. earned him recognition as an Ohio Rising Star by Super Lawyers for the past 8 years consecutively, and features in international outlets.
Beyond the courtroom, Sean currently shapes the legal landscape as an adjunct professor at Capital University Law School, a trustee of the Ohio Association for Justice, and as one of Ohio's representatives on the American Association for Justice Board.

Sean also brings his expertise to Axon’s Ethics & Equity Advisory Council, advising on racial equity in tech and law enforcement. He co-leads Ground x Grind, a community hub and social club in Olde Town East, and Sky Nile Consulting, focusing on inclusive business practices and transforming work cultures. With a vision of making Columbus the nation’s premier NAACP branch, Sean is dedicated to fostering unity, expanding outreach, and ensuring justice and opportunity for all.
